What is a GST Calculator?
A GST calculator helps you add GST to a price or remove GST from a GST-inclusive price in seconds. It shows the net amount, the GST amount and the total, along with the CGST, SGST and IGST split.
It is useful for business owners preparing invoices, freelancers quoting prices and shoppers who want to know how much tax they are paying. The calculator includes the rates introduced by the GST 2.0 reform from 22 September 2025.
How to use the GST Calculator
- 1Choose Add GST (price excludes tax) or Remove GST (price includes tax).
- 2Enter the amount.
- 3Pick a GST rate (5%, 18%, 40% or a special rate) or type any custom rate.
- 4Read the net price, GST amount, total and CGST/SGST/IGST split.
GST Calculation Formula
- CGST = SGST
- — Half of the GST each, for sales within a state
- IGST
- — Full GST, for inter-state sales
Example: ₹10,000 at 18% GST
| Net amount | ₹10,000 |
|---|---|
| GST @ 18% | ₹1,800 (CGST ₹900 + SGST ₹900) |
| Total amount | ₹11,800 |
Removing 18% GST from ₹11,800 works in reverse: 11,800 ÷ 1.18 = ₹10,000 net.
